The Agile Approach to Software Development - Taking a Closer Look

The Agile Approach to Software Development - Taking a Closer Look

Lunch Sponsor: CC Pace

Description:
In the highly competitive legal services industry, it's no secret that software can set you apart from the rest. Effectively developed and deployed, custom software can reduce in-house costs, provide enhanced and timelier service to clients, and differentiate you from your competitors. However, many firms find themselves frustrated with a development project that is over budget and/or behind schedule, and end up with a lot of functionality that adds no value -- but certainly adds to the final cost of the project.

Due to these factors and more, the popularity of Agile methodologies has skyrocketed over the last decade. Among other things, Agile development reduces risks, increases transparency and ultimately gives you a final product that has a better chance of being on-time, under budget and without all the pricy unnecessary functionality.

This overview will lend a better understanding of why so many development projects are 'going Agile'. You'll learn the differences between Agile and traditional development practices and get a sense of the history and framework. Roles, challenges and team dynamics that impact the traditional development mindset will be addressed, and we will also look at the role Agile development has played in firms within the legal industry.

Presenter:
Kuryan Thomas
, the CTO at CC Pace, is primarily responsible for the company's custom application delivery practice, including maintaining its record of client satisfaction and successful delivery in custom software projects. He engages as a lead developer on some projects, actively writing and delivering code to keep his skills fresh, and helps the entire company understand the implications of technology for both clients and internal operations. Kuryan has over 35 years of programming experience including numerical software simulations, systems programming, operating system internals and enterprise-class business process software. He holds a doctorate in condensed matter physics and is a Certified Scrum Master.

Win More Business, Boost Profits and Increase Client Satisfaction with Predictable E-Discovery Services
Start Date: 05/21/2015

Win More Business, Boost Profits and Increase Client Satisfaction with Predictable E-Discovery Services

Lunch Sponsor: Logikcull

Description:
Today, every new case has the potential for involving e-discovery. Clients who have experienced traditional e-discovery (i.e., discovery version 1.0) workflows know the drill -- and the pain that comes with it. Unpredictable document volumes, shockingly high and seemingly random vendor bills, and the prolonged time it takes to sift through mountains of data are all too common themes. Clients who have yet to experience this pain are in for a rude awakening if their law firms and vendors are working in a discovery 1.0 world.

We will explore how modern law firms can not only embrace discovery version 2.0 for better client delivery services, but also boost profits by becoming the go-to firm for discovery 2.0. We'll tackle the traditional discovery workflows that are full of client friction. There are hundreds of steps in the discovery 1.0 process, and each step can cause untold delay -- resulting in more and more client unhappiness and risk. We'll discuss how you can reduce many steps in the discovery process by embracing discovery 2.0.

Special Door Prize: Drawings will be held after the presentation, with lucky winners receiving Logikcull t-shirts.

Presenter:
Todd Eastman is the VP of Business Development & Partnerships at Logikcull, where he is responsible for driving new revenue growth and developing strategic partnerships. Since 2007, he has helped the company become an industry leader. Todd can be contacted at todd.eastman@logik.com.
